GO SIYAHA Caravan Revives Investor Optimism in Dakhla’s Tourism Sector

As part of Morocco’s national efforts to boost tourism investment and foster socio-economic development in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, the conference hall of the Regional Investment Center (CRI) in Dakhla hosted a new stop of the nationwide “GO SIYAHA DAYS” caravan on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

This event was chaired by the Secretary General for Regional Affairs of the Wilaya of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab and the Director General of Maroc PME, in the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy, the regional tourism delegation in Dakhla, along with numerous regional officials, elected representatives, project developers, investors, and media outlets.

The Dakhla stop is part of a strategic vision to transform the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region into a hub of excellence in tourism and investment. This aligns with the High Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, particularly concerning the development of Morocco’s southern provinces and the promotion of their natural, economic, and human resources.

The event featured presentations on various support mechanisms and technical assistance programs tailored to tourism investment. These initiatives are driven by partnerships between the State, Maroc PME, and the National Tourism Confederation. Several successful projects were showcased as inspiring case studies — ranging from new ventures to expansions and sustainable business transitions.

Mohamed Mostakim Chelhawi, representative of the provincial tourism delegation in Oued Eddahab, highlighted that the Dakhla stop represents a key milestone for “GO SIYAHA DAYS.” It served as a crucial opportunity to raise awareness about the national support program for tourism investment, part of the 2023–2026 roadmap. He emphasized the availability of updated technical and financial assistance tools for tourism enterprises and praised the high quality, innovation, and ambition of the projects presented. He also acknowledged the vital role of Maroc PME in delivering detailed briefings and conducting one-on-one sessions with entrepreneurs.

For his part, Anouar El Aloui Ismaili, Director General of Maroc PME, reiterated that “GO SIYAHA DAYS” is an operational pillar of the national tourism enterprise support program, aiming to assist over 1,700 businesses nationwide. He described the Dakhla event as a strategic opportunity to connect directly with local tourism actors — both established businesses and emerging projects — to clarify the program’s benefits, such as more flexible eligibility criteria and a broadened base of beneficiaries. He stressed the importance of empowering new and young companies, especially those in sustainable tourism, by providing advanced technical support and optimal access to program incentives — injecting fresh momentum into regional tourism investment.

Interactive discussions during the event centered on key themes for the region, including eco-tourism, sports tourism, business travel, and sustainable development of oases and desert zones. The unique assets of Dakhla as a rising international destination were also underscored: a vast coastline, ideal wind conditions for water sports, a mild climate, modern infrastructure, and a supportive institutional framework.

The “GO SIYAHA DAYS” caravan, which began its national tour in March 2025, continues to engage regional and local stakeholders to unlock tourism investment opportunities, connect project holders with support ecosystems, and foster synergy between public and private actors. A nationwide evaluation phase is scheduled for November 2025 to assess the outcomes of this dynamic initiative.
