Congratulations to Bonang Matheba!

The New Africa Magazine proudly recognizes Bonang Matheba, a distinguished South African media personality and entrepreneur, as one of the 100 Young and Exceptional Africans of 2024!

Bonang’s illustrious career began in 2002 when she debuted on the SABC 2 kids’ show, Manhattan Fantasy Challenge, at the age of1. She gained widespread acclaim as the host of SABC 1’s music show LIVE (now Live Amp) from 2007 to 2012, earning her the affectionate nickname “Queen B.”

In 2013, Bonang made history by becoming one of the four global brand ambassadors for Revlon, marking the first time the cosmetics giant selected a representative outside the United States.

Demonstrating her entrepreneurial spirit, she launched The House of BNG in 2019, becoming the first Black woman to join the Cap Classique Producers Association. Her luxury beverage brand quickly became a staple at celebratory events across South Africa.

In 2024, Bonang’s remarkable achievements included co-hosting the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards in May, hosting the Miss South
Africa pageant in August, and being announced as the host for the Miss Universe 2024 pageant in Septeme. Additionally, she co-hosted the prestigious Earthshot Prize Awards alongside Billy Porter in Cape Town on November 6, 2024.
