Dangote Cement Launches Social Intervention Programme in Gboko

Dangote Cement Plc has reaffirmed its commitment to community development with the launch of a comprehensive social intervention programme in Gboko, Benue State, marking another milestone in the company’s long-standing relationship with its host communities.

The initiative, unveiled at the Dangote Cement Plant in Gboko, is designed to improve livelihoods, strengthen social welfare, and support sustainable development across surrounding communities. It forms part of the company’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy, which prioritises inclusive growth and shared prosperity.

Speaking at the launch, company representatives emphasised that Dangote Cement’s success is closely tied to the wellbeing of its host communities. They noted that the social intervention programme focuses on key areas including education, healthcare, skills acquisition, and economic empowerment, with particular attention given to youth and women.

Local community leaders and government officials who attended the event welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful. They highlighted the positive role Dangote Cement has played over the years in job creation, infrastructure development, and social investment in Gboko and its environs.

The programme is expected to roll out in phases, with beneficiaries drawn from various communities around the cement plant. By supporting small businesses, providing vocational training, and improving access to essential services, the intervention aims to create long-term socio-economic benefits rather than short-term relief.

Dangote Cement has consistently maintained that responsible business goes beyond profitability. Through similar programmes across Nigeria and other African countries where it operates, the company has invested heavily in community development, environmental sustainability, and human capital growth.

The launch in Gboko reinforces Dangote Cement’s position as not only a leading industrial player but also a partner in national and grassroots development. For residents of Gboko, the intervention represents renewed hope and a shared vision for a more prosperous and resilient future.
