The New Africa Magazine proudly recognizes Tariye Gbadegesin, a distinguished Nigerian-American investment professional, as one of the Young and Exceptional Africans of 2024.
Born in Ibadan, Nigeria, Tariye has amassed over 20 years of experience in finance, principal investments, and infrastructure. She holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from Amherst College and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School. Her career includes roles at the Africa Finance Corporation, the International Monetary Fund, the Boston Consulting Group, and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
In March 2024, Tariye was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the Climate Investment Funds (CIF), becoming the first African woman to lead this $11 billion investment fund. Prior to this, she served as the CEO of ARM-Harith Infrastructure Investments, a pan-African infrastructure fund focused on energy transition and climate-resilient infrastructure. She also co-chaired the Voluntary Carbon Markets Integrity Initiative, promoting high-integrity carbon markets for climate action.
Tariye’s leadership extends to board positions, including her role as a Non-Executive Director at Guinness Nigeria Plc. She is a member of the Advisory Council of the Millennium Challenge Corporation and serves on the Advisory Committee on Infrastructure for the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investing.
