ACCRA, Ghana Sixteen-year-old Gwendolyn “Gwen” Klu has been selected to represent Ghana at the 2026 Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Africa Group III, marking a major milestone in the young tennis player’s career.
Klu, who is based in Telford, England, will compete as a member of Ghana’s national women’s tennis team, popularly known as the Diamond Rackets, during the continental tournament scheduled to take place in Gaborone, Botswana, from 13 to 18 July 2026.
The Billie Jean King Cup is the world’s premier international team competition in women’s tennis, bringing together national teams from across the globe. The Africa Group III competition will feature several African nations battling for promotion to a higher tier of the tournament.
Gwendolyn’s selection reflects her impressive performances and growing reputation as one of Ghana’s emerging tennis talents. Despite living in the United Kingdom, she remains eligible to represent Ghana through her family heritage and has embraced the opportunity to compete for the West African nation on the international stage.
