US Requested Ukraine’s Help To Counter Iranian Drones, Zelensky Reveals
Volodymyr Zelensky says Washington has sought Ukraine’s expertise in defending Gulf allies against Iranian drone attacks

President Volodymyr Zelensky has revealed that the United States requested Ukraine’s assistance in countering Iranian-made drones, highlighting Ukraine’s growing role in international security cooperation.
Speaking in a recent address, Zelensky said the request came after Ukraine gained extensive experience dealing with Iranian-supplied drones used by Russia during the ongoing war. Ukrainian forces have spent months developing strategies and technology to detect, intercept and destroy the unmanned aerial vehicles.
According to Zelensky, the knowledge Ukraine has acquired in defending its cities and infrastructure against drone attacks has now become valuable to other countries facing similar threats.
He explained that Ukrainian specialists have learned how to identify the drones, track their flight patterns and neutralize them using air-defense systems and electronic warfare tools.
Iranian-manufactured drones, particularly the Shahed-type loitering munitions, have been widely used by Russian forces to target Ukrainian energy facilities, military positions and civilian infrastructure since the start of the conflict.
Zelensky said Ukraine is prepared to share its expertise and technological experience with partners, including the United States, in order to strengthen international efforts against drone warfare.
The Ukrainian leader noted that cooperation between Kyiv and Washington continues to deepen as the war with Russia evolves and new security threats emerge.
Iran has repeatedly denied supplying drones for use in the war, although Western governments have accused Tehran of providing military support to Russia.
The comments by Zelensky underline how the conflict in Ukraine has transformed the country into one of the world’s most experienced militaries in counter-drone defense, knowledge that is increasingly being sought by its allies.
